Situated 364 meters above sea level, well on top of the pacified favela of Santa Marta, the view from Dona Marta Viewpoint is as impressive as the view of Christ the Redeemer Statue. To be honest, it’s one of the most beautiful views of Rio de Janeiro. With its privileged geographical position, it has a detailed look of the Marvelous City. incredible scenery as Urca, Botafogo and Flamengo beaches, Sugar Loaf, Maracana, Christ the Redeemer Statue and the Bay of Guanabara, are revealed from the top of Dona Marta lookout.

The place has a big parking lot where depending on day and time is charged R $ 2.00 for the vacancy. Also, during certain times, there is always a guard at the parking booth.

How to get there

To get to the Dona Marta Viewpoint is necessary to access the road of Paineiras. So, see these tips:

Car – The shortest access to the Dona Marta Viewpoint is by the Cosme Velho neighborhood. You must go up the Cosme Velho street until almost the end of it. When you sight of a square with various bifurcations, take the first right before the square, on the street Professor Mauriti Santos. The street will go up a “lifetime” until become Almirante Alexandrino Street, a paved street where runs the tram rail in the middle (the tram is disabled). From there, you will start to see several signs to the Dona Marta Viewpoint, just follow direction Corcovado and Tijuca National Park that you will hit the road Paineiras. From there to the parking entrance are just over 1.7 km.

Bus – To get to the Dona Marta Viewpoint by bus you need to make some transfers and even walk a little. The best way is to take the metro, “jump” in Largo do Machado station and take the bus 507 to the end point. Then you have to walk around 1.8 kilometers by Paineiras road until the Dona Marta Viewpoint. The walk takes place in about 30 minutes.
