City Park in Niteroi: The Best View of Rio de Janeiro

For those who want to watch a cinematic sunset, cannot leave to read this post. Known for having one of the best visuals of Rio de Janeiro, the City Park in Niteroi enchants all of his visitors because of its stunning scenery. Opened in 1976, the City Park is located on top of Viração Hill, at 270m above sea level and is an APA (Environmental Protection Area).

How to get to the Park City:

Located in the neighborhood of San Francisco, there is no bus to take you to the City Park. You can go by car, on foot or by bike, remembering that a good physical preparation is important for anyone who is without car (the road is very inclined). The hike to the top can be performed starting from the district of San Francisco or the Largo da Batalha. The Buses passing by there are: 38, 38A and 46. All of them depart from terminal next to the ferry station.

For those going by car, the rise time is about 5 minutes. You can park up there, but the parking lot is very small and gets full fast. So you may have to stop the car a little away from the entrance and walk a little. But believe me, worth it!

For those who want to take a tour in Niterói and visit the City Park, the Niemeyer Way, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Fortress of Santa Cruz with safety and comfort, we offer a very nice tour, take look.

What to do:

The City Park has two lookouts. One with a panoramic view to the ocean beaches of Niteroi, and the other to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Sugar Loaf, Gávea Stone, Christ the Redeemer and many other magnificent spots that you can only see from there. The view from the City Park is beautiful at any time of day, but it is on summer sunset that the visual is made perfect.

When the sun gets quietly and falling behind the Christ the Redeemer leaving a unique color in the scenery, is the time that many cameras are taken to immortalize a perfectly moment. It’s amazing!
